Martin Hingley started his career as an IT analyst in 1983 with Inteco – a company run by Tom Bachman. He joined IDC in 1986 where he ran European server research until 2009, being promoted to SVP and become the head of European research along the way.
Since then he has been running ITCandor, which covers and sizes all aspects of the IT and communications market by building a continuously updated market model and forecast from the quarterly financial statements of (now) around 200 key suppliers.
The company is based on an open model and has published 900 research posts, the majority of which provide market overviews, sizing and forecasts – rather than the ‘pay of praise’ models many of the larger research houses.
The company’s business is based on consulting, presenting and custom research (often in connection with other market research companies).
Martin has an MA form Corpus Christi College, Oxford in Classics. In his spare time he is a keen guitarist and saxophonist playing in clubs and pubs. He also enjoys landscape painting in oils and acrylics.
