David is Head of Digital Readiness at Health Education England (HEE) and has over 25 years of delivery experience within both the NHS and major private sector organisations. He is currently leading HEE’s Digital Readiness Programme, a national programme aimed at ensuring that the health and care workforce of today and tomorrow has the capacity and capability to deal with an ever-growing demand for health services in a world of ever-increasing digital services. The programme provides the mechanisms for supporting a workforce who need to be equipped with the skills, knowledge, values and behaviours to enable them to exploit the ‘power of digital’. It includes establishment of the NHS Digital Academy for developing digital change leaders and is also carrying out work to address the challenges around the importance of senior leadership buy-in; digital learning and development for all; ‘professionalising’ the digital workforce; and creating the future digital workforce.
