What is Leaders of Tomorrow?

Katie King - published Author and CEO of AI in Business, and the Digital Transformation EXPO team, have collaborated with leading corporates and academics to launch an inclusive virtual/online programme for schools. Commencing June 2020, the project aims to train, support and showcase young tech talent at secondary school, closing the skills gap surrounding the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the future of work and society. During its first year, the pilot programme will support schools via a 6- week virtual programme. The sessions will bring together leading data scientists, tech titans, and other guest speakers/facilitators.

Students who take part in the programme will also attend the Digital Transformation Expo on 30th September – 1st October 2020. The students will gain even greater access to leading expertise as the event features an impressive line-up of leading speakers including Sir Nigel Shadbolt,
Co-Founder of the Open Data Institute and an AI expert, alongside companies like Google. Four lucky students will also enter the Leaders of Tomorrow in Tech Awards, with the winner receiving two hours of mentoring from leading industry judges including Lord Clement-Jones, Co-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Artificial Intelligence.


The goals:

Goal 1

To teach students about how AI will reshape all future jobs, from law to football, with exciting case studies and demos

Goal 2

To fuel their interest in the fast-moving world of technology, and guide them, via mentors, on ways to access it

Goal 3

To highlight the major societal issues of privacy, ethics, trust and equality

Goal 4

To showcase diverse, inclusive and exemplary young talent, as part of a Leaders of Tomorrow Award at the Digital Transformation EXPO in London on 1st October 2020

Thurs 1 Oct 2020 - DTX Europe:

Leaders of Tomorrow in Tech Awards, 1st October, DTX Europe The Leaders of Tomorrow in Tech Awards will see a small group of lucky students, who have taken part in our 6 week training programme on Artificial Intelligence, present on stage at DTX Europe. These finalists will present their ideas on the application of AI to an expert panel of judges.

The presentation should be based on an idea that they have learnt about while taking part in the programme, along with some of their own personal research. The idea can either be a way which AI could improve business outcomes, people’s lives or user experiences. The presentation should be no more than 10 minutes in length.

The winning group will be selected after extensive deliberation by the judges. They will receive an award from DTX Europe and AI in Business and will receive 2 hours of mentoring from each of the judges later on in the year, to help kick start their careers.
